Here's to spreading blessings....

Why are we here?

Ahhhhhhh, the "BIG" question that everyone, at some point in their lives, ponders. I felt that today's quote made me think about what our ultimate purpose might be....

David Steindl-Rast says,

"The more alert we become to the blessing that flows into us through everything we touch, the more our own touch will bring blessing."

David Steindl-Rast
A Listening Heart

How do we TOUCH others?
Are our heart-hands gentle, kind, loving? When we hold the hand of an innocent child, what blessing do we give them? Security, love, direction? And what blessing do they give us in return? Their trust, laughter, unconditional love? This analogy works so well for me right now as I have sweet memories of spending time with three little souls, Maddy, Alex and Jack. Wow, talk about high-wattage love flowing back towards us through them!

And so, i think that if you substitute the world love for blessing in Steindl-Rast's quote, it would help make my analogy even clearer.

Another quote from the Book of John reads,
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

And so, why not look for opportunities today to bless someone you meet? Go and give away that special blessing you have to share.

GO!!! Spread the love!

Attitude.... is possibly EVERYTHING!

One of my birthday cards reads, "It's not about age, it's about attitude....."

When all is said and done, one could argue that this IS true. This morning I found this quote waiting for me in my inbox.

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes."

~ Chuck Swindoll

Wise words from a wise man.

So, let's just try to live our lives with the Attitude of gratitude and see what we can make of this world, this life, this day.
